One dark morning when the sun wasn’t out yet, Myungsoo walked in the freezing cold. His hands were cold; although it was winter, he didn’t think he needed gloves. His scarf was too thin to keep his neck warm. No hat was covering his head, his dark hair was freely moving because of the wind. He should’ve stayed home and have a nice cup of coffee inside the warmth of his apartment. He should’ve done that, but he didn’t.
His model-like face was cold. His eyes were half-closed, the wind was too strong. But there was a hint of a smile is the corners of his mouth, a smile that could only mean one thing: he was close.
Around the corner, the guy with the half smile saw the lights of the coffee shop. Once he reached the glass door, his breath stopped for a millisecond and his heart started to get warmer. His heartbeat already got a little faster.
He opened the door and the warmth of the place filled his chest and the smell of coffee filled his lungs. The strong scent was all over the place, from the kitchen behind the counter at the right to his usual table on the left next to the window. That’s were he sat and enjoyed the smell and the view.
- Good morning! Shall I get you the same as always? – Smiled a young boy with cute cheeks. His delicate hands placed the sugar on the table.
Myungsoo nodded and tried to avoid his eyes. But the smile of neither of the boys faded.
The boy with the widest smile went to the kitchen. The only customer at this time was Myungsoo and he liked that. It had been already three months since he started going to this coffee shop, it had already been three months since he met him.
Myungsoo opened the door and got inside the shop, while the rain was still pouring outside filling the afternoon with darkness. The first thing he noticed was the cute boy behind the counter. His big eyes were searching for something, at the same time a small smile played on his full lips. He was a boy, but he looked like a girl. His delicate manners when speaking or when moving were so feminine… but it didn’t look weird. He looked so natural in his own femininity.
Myungsoo was still standing at the door mesmerized by the cutest guy he’s ever seen, when the other boy looked up and saw him. His small smile became a wide cute smile. He left the counter and went to meet the young boy who was looking lost at the door of the shop.
- Can I help you? Take a sit, please. Have you had a nice day? Please, sit over here. It’s raining so much right now, which is a good thing, because I have so many clients now. May I offer you a cup of coffee? Is there anything you’d like to drink? - The cute boy whose name was Sungjong, as Myungsoo read in the tag, said while showing him a table on the left of the shop near the window.
- This is one of the best seats, you know, because you can see the street and the people walking. This is my favourite table. – Myungsoo was still shocked at the friendliness of the boy but managed to smile half a smile.
The cute child-like boy returned a few minutes later with a coffee, although Myungsoo never had the chance to say what he wanted to drink. He had never drunk coffee in his life. He had never tasted it. But here he was, at a coffee shop about to drink the dark beverage whose scent was so strong while being closely observed by Sungjong.
He took a small sip, he liked it, he drank a little more and he decided it needed a little bit of sugar. He looked for it on the table but there wasn’t any. Sungjong hurried over with the sugar on his hand, placed it on the table, smiled and went back behind the counter.
Myungsoo kept remembering that day over and over again. He was sceptic, he had never believed in love at first sight. But ever since that day he always went to the shop, he always felt happier in there, he always looked at the younger boy’s reflection on the window.
He thanked the sun for not rising up yet, so that the outside was still dark. The lights inside the shop were reflected on the glass and so was everything in the shop, including Sungjong. The boy with the half-smile stared deeply into the reflection of the boy with the cute smile. And he was looking at him. Myungsoo realized that Sungjong was watching him. He quickly lowered his eyes and his face and took a sip of coffee.
- Don’t you think it’s about time I know your name? - Said a voice close to him. Sungjong sat in front of him. – At least, let me know your name.-
- Myungsoo. – Answered with a small smile.
- You’ve been coming here for so long. Why?-
- I don’t know. - Lied Myungsoo.
- Don’t you think…? Don’t you think it’s about time you ask me out? – Myungsoo was shocked. His mouth hung open. How did the other boy know?
- I’ve seen you watching me, I’m not that stupid. I can tell you like me. So, why don’t you take chance and ask me out?-
- Would you…? – The quiet guy started to say, while his hands were fidgeting. He didn’t dare to say it, though it was what he had always wanted. – Would you… go out with… me? –
- I don’t know. Let me think about it. - Myungsoo’s eyes opened as wide as they could. His heart was beating too fast. – Of course I would go out with you. I’ve liked you since the first day you entered this shop.
A sigh of relief escaped Myungsoo’s lips and he smiled, not a half smile this time. His smile was now as wide the one of the boy in front of him. They continued to talk a lot until the sun was fully out and it was time to leave. More clients started to come inside. Sungjong went to serve each of them, all the while throwing glances at Myungsoo. The not so mysterious guy left the shop after looking at the coffee boy. Both of them smiled and remembered “this afternoon at 6 o’clock at the park”.
Myungsoo forgot about the cold, about the weather and about the winter. His smile stayed with him all day long.
A/N: Let me know what you thought about it ^^
